Wellness Science Initiative (by MHI)
Making evidence-based wellness engaging, accessible, and rewarding.
The Wellness Science Initiative (WSI) is an educational initiative of the Molecular Hydrogen Institute designed to help people think more critically about health, wellness, and science. Through courses, competitions, community discussions, and events, WSI aims to make evidence-based wellness both approachable and engaging. Unlike many educational programs, WSI isn’t simply about learning facts. It’s about learning how to think, evaluate evidence, and make thoughtful decisions in an increasingly complex world.
Why WSI Exists
Modern wellness is filled with conflicting advice, bold claims, and endless information. Knowing what to believe has become increasingly difficult. WSI was created to help people build three foundational skills:
- Understanding scientific foundations
- Developing scientific reasoning
- Making thoughtful decisions that align with both evidence and personal values
Rather than telling people what to think, WSI encourages them to ask better questions.
My Role
Under the leadership of Dr. Tyler LeBaron and with the support of an incredible team, I help lead the design and development of the Wellness Science Initiative.
My work includes:
- Designing the educational framework
- Developing courses and learning pathways
- Building the competition structure
- Coordinating project teams
- Planning community engagement
- Creating systems that make learning interactive, measurable, and enjoyable
One of my favorite parts of this project is taking complex ideas and turning them into experiences that people actually enjoy participating in.
My story
Long before the Wellness Science Initiative had a name, the Molecular Hydrogen Institute was already expanding its educational efforts beyond molecular hydrogen. Through our monthly MHI Community Q&A’s, webinars, conferences, and educational resources, we were beginning to explore broader topics like exercise, metabolism, mitochondria, scientific thinking, and evidence-based wellness.
Around April 2026, Alex (who is the CEO of InhaleH2), proposed the idea of biohacking competitions to give away InhaleH2 machines. While we had reservations because MHI to date had not done competitions, didn’t know the legality, and had never accepted sponsors, we recognized we were already moving this direction and agreed to incorporate competitions into the community. We wanted MHI to grow the awareness of molecular hydrogen, and we knew tying it into the greater wellness conversation was already helping. Thus, MHI launched a pilot initiative called WSI using the framework that MHI already developed and adding competitions into that framework.
Today, I help lead the development of that vision with the rest of the MHI team under Tyler’s direction—building the educational framework, coordinating our teams, designing learning experiences, and creating the systems that bring the initiative to life. It’s still a work in progress, and that’s one of the things I enjoy most: helping build something meaningful from the ground up.
