Working Moms Connection

Working Moms Connection is a nonprofit community I founded to support working mothers through connection, encouragement, and practical resources. What began as a simple Facebook group grew into a community of tens of thousands of women navigating the challenges of balancing careers, families, and everyday life. While the organization has evolved over the years, and is no longer an active nonprofit, its mission remains the same: helping mothers realize they don’t have to figure everything out alone.

WHY IT EXISTS

What WMC is Building

When I became a working mom, I quickly realized how many women were carrying the same invisible weight. We were trying to succeed at work, raise healthy families, care for those around us, and somehow still take care of ourselves. It makes me so sad that the average mom experiences early motherhood isolated, overwhelmed, or like we are failing because we couldn’t do everything perfectly. Working Moms Connection was created to remind women that they aren’t alone. Sometimes what we need most isn’t another productivity system—it’s a community that understands.

What I Do Here

Over the years, Working Moms Connection became much more than a Facebook group. Together we built:

  • A community of almost 60,000 working mothers
  • Educational articles and resources
  • Local events and networking opportunities
  • Partnerships with businesses and nonprofits (Huge shout out to UVU)
  • A platform for sharing stories, encouragement, and practical advice

The experience taught me how communities grow, how trust is earned, and how meaningful change often begins with simply helping one person.

My story of how I got started

Working Moms Connection was my first attempt at building something larger than myself. Maybe I was a little manic. Maybe I just saw something that I knew needed to exist. But young 25 year old me tried. After closing the doors of the nonprofit at 28, I believed it had failed. As life became busier, I stepped away from the organization and eventually closed that chapter. I assumed it was over.

Looking back, I realize it wasn’t a failure at all. It taught me how to lead a community, build systems, write consistently, organize volunteers, partner with organizations, and create something that genuinely helped people. More importantly, it changed the way I think about flourishing. Healthy families don’t exist in isolation. They need strong communities, supportive workplaces, and opportunities to connect with one another.

Today, many of the lessons I learned through Working Moms Connection continue to influence everything else I build—from education programs, nonprofit work, and engineering systems to local leadership and this “notebook” itself.

My whole world is my family. They give my life purpose, meaning, and direction. For much of my life, I was ambitious because I tied my worth to productivity. I chased accomplishments, checked boxes, and measured success by what I could achieve. Over time, that changed. Today, my ambition is fueled by something different. I…

  • What I hope to build

By May Anderson, PE • June 23, 2026
Several years ago, I started a project called My Intentional Life. At the time, I was overwhelmed, juggling work, family, responsibilities, and a growing realization that life wasn’t slowing down. I kept asking myself a simple question: Am I building my life intentionally, or am I just reacting to whatever comes next? Shortly after pondering…
